Meridian Township Officials Plan to
Announce Status of Fireworks
Celebration at Press Conference on
July 1st

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - If you were looking to enjoy the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration in Meridian Township on Monday... you may have to make other plans.

A press conference will be held on Friday, July 1st at 11am at the Central Fire Station with Meridian Township Fire Chief Fred Cowper, Delhi Township Fire Chief Brian Ball and Meridian Township Director of Parks and Recreation LuAnn Maisner on the status of the fireworks celebration.

Due to dangerously dry conditions, an open burning ban has been put into place in Meridian Township and several other neighboring communities. This ban may impact if the Meridian Township 4th of July Fireworks Celebration will actually take place this year. A decision will be made at the press conference.

A possible ban on the use of personal fireworks will also be decided at the press conference.

According to the Meridian Township Fireworks Ordinance, consumer fireworks can only be set off the day before, the day of and day after a national holiday. If a ban on consumer fireworks is put into place, residents would have to wait until the Labor Day holiday to set off their fireworks.
