Meridian Ballot Results Different Than
Statewide - Presidential Primary
Voter Turnout and Results

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Record voter turnout for the 2016 Presidential Primary Election has been reported across the nation in states that have already voted. Michigan is no different.

Michigan had the largest voter turnout for a presidential primary in Michigan history with 2.5 million voters...34%. Almost 50% of voters showed up to the polls in Meridian Township this presidential primary, doubling the number of voters in 2012. But in that election year, Michigan only had one Democratic Presidential candidate on the ballot which resulted in far fewer democrats showing up to vote at the polls.

Six thousand ballots were cast in Meridian Township during the last Presidential Primary in 2012. This year? Over 13,000 ballots were cast in Meridian Township. That’s just over 44% of voters showing up to the polls this presidential primary compared to only 23% in 2012.

58.3% of voters cast their ballot on the Democratic ticket. There were only two precincts in Meridian with a majority of the ballots cast for Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton,

Precinct 6 and Precinct 10. Precinct 13 showed a 9 vote difference between Clinton and Sanders, proving that every vote does count.

So, for the most part, the democratic ballots in Meridian married statewide results. On the other hand, the Republican Presidential Primary ballot in Meridian Township showed that the results were quite different than they were statewide.

Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump only won in two precincts and they were VERY NARROW victories. He won by 2 votes in Precinct 4 and by 1 vote in Precinct 12.

Republican Presidential Candidate John Kasich won in all other precincts except for precinct 18 were Republican Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz won by 5 votes over Trump and 18 votes over Kasich.

Of course, as you know, Sanders and Trump won overall in Michigan.
