GRAND LEDGE - The Grand Ledge girls varsity basketball team topped Okemos, 73-56, on Friday at 6 p.m.

Okemos freshman Laya Hartman was the girl's leading scorer with 31 of Okemos' 56 points.

Grand Ledge improved its record to 7-6 overall (7-3 in the CAAC Blue conference), while Okemos' record is now 5-9 overall (5-4 in the conference).

Grand Ledge coach David Jones said he knew Okemos was a good team with good athletes, and that he's proud of his team for winning.

"Basketball is a lot of fun if you make your shots," Jones said. "We gotta keep being competitive and find a way to win those close games."
