Station Ribbon Cutting in Meridian
Township

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township will be cutting the ribbon and celebrating the grand opening of the new Central Fire Station on the corner of Okemos Road and Central Park Drive.

The $3.5 million bond was approved by voters in 2012. After some delays due to legal battles with neighboring residents as well as weather, the new station is now up and running.

The former Central Fire Station on Clinton Street was shut down in 2014 due to the worsening conditions of the building. The old fire station was demolished in late 2015 as a local developer purchased the property with plans to renovate Downtown Okemos.

Since the closing of the former Central Fire Station, the Fire Department has been operating fire services from a temporary location at the Meridian Service Center until the new station was built.

HOMTV will be providing LIVE coverage of the grand opening ceremony on Monday, February 1st at 1 pm.

Cable subscribers can watch the ceremony by turning to Comcast Cable channel 21.

Non-cable subscribers or those who live outside the viewing area will have the opportunity to view the event through a live video stream on HOMTV’s website at www.homtv.net.
