Ingham County Parks Continues Public Meetings for County Regional Trails and Parks Plan

EAST LANSING - The Ingham County Parks will hold six public meetings to receive input from the community on the County Regional Trails and Parks Plan.

Meeting number 3 was held at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center on Tuesday, November 17th .

Many residents of East Lansing were in attendance to voice their concerns on connecting gaps of Ingham County Parks, amenities, signage, maintenance, planning and promotions.

The meeting basics include the following information:

- New County- Wide millage passed in November 2014
- .5 mill per household over the next 6 years
- Yielding approximately $3.5 million annually for a total
of about $20 million
- Will be used for a county-wide trails and parks network

Potential Expenditures
- Can be spent on:
- New Construction
- Reconstruction
- Preservation & Repairs
- Operations & Maintenance
- County Parks
- Special Projects



The information from this meeting will be used by the Ingham County Trails and Task Force to see what areas need improvement for local parks and to determine the expenditure of millage dollars for a regional trial and park network.

Tim Morgan, Director of Ingham Count Parks Department said, "We thank the public for coming out and giving their input so that the County Commissioners and Park Commissioners can make educated decisions on where the trails' millage money will be spent in the future."


The next meeting will be held Thursday, November 12th at 6:30 pm at the Foster Community Center, 200 N. Foster St., Lansing, Michigan.
