The Opportunity a Meridian Township
Firefighter Could Not Turn Down

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - To most individuals, gaining recognition for your hard work is the most rewarding feeling. That especially comes true for Meridian Township firefighter Daniel Ackles who was promoted from part-time firefighter to full-time for Meridian Township at the promotion ceremony on October 12th.

"I called Dan and said 'I'm going to offer you a career, a lifetime career in Meridian Township firefighting'," mentioned Meridian Township Fire Chief Fred Cowper.

"Thanks Chief, I appreciate that," was Ackles response.

Ackles began his firefighting career a little over a year ago with the Meridian Township Fire Department and as most employees would react, Ackles was thrilled when provided this full-time opportunity.

"Wonderful, absolutely wonderful…on top of the world," stated Ackles when asked how this ceremony made him feel.

From the Township, to the Fire Department, to Ackle's family…everyone gathered around to celebrate this large accomplishment for Ackles as he begins his full-time career saving lives one fire at a time.

"I'm really looking forward to starting full-time, getting in the groove of things and doing a great job for the township here," Ackles mentioned.
