Sidewalk Renovations on Grand River
Avenue May Take Longer than Expected

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - If you have been biking or walking down sidewalks on Grand River Avenue in Meridian Township, you may have noticed that the conditions of these walkways are not the best.

While Meridian Township officials are working with the Michigan Department of Transportation on the problem, it may be a while before there is a permanent solution. Assistant Township Manager/Director of Public Works, Derek Perry explains why this is the case.

"Grand River is not scheduled for total renovation until about 2025," said Perry. "There is just not a whole lot of permanent fixes we can do right now."

Although the sidewalk on Grand River Avenue across from Playmakers may not see renovations anytime soon, the pathway across from St. Martha's Church will be getting some work done soon.

MDOT and Meridian Township are currently working on a plan to try and catch drainage that has eroded the soil underneath these sidewalks and effectively collapsed the pathway.
