Winter Car Prep

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At Wood's Marathon in Okemos, Mike will be more than happy to come tow you out of a snow bank, but it is a call that can be avoided. When it comes to winter weather, anticipation is not in the vocabulary of Michiganders. That's why it's important to make the necessary adjustments to your vehicle in order to be prepared for the cold season. Changing out your current tires to snow tires may be the most important step to staying out of trouble. Better tires can help you avoid accidents, but problems on the road happen to even the best of drivers, so everyone should be prepared for the worst. Wood's Marathon suggests keeping a small box in the back of their vehicle with supplies in case you get stranded in the cold. Some good things to have are jumper cables, blankets, adjustable straps and gloves. Everything needs to be in working order, from the front to the rear of the vehicle. Aside from some of the things that can be done for your vehicle, drivers themselves need to be overly-cautious when the snow hits. Approach stop signs slowly, be aware of potential icy spots, and don't be afraid to pull over if the snow hinders your vision.
