Okemos Road Pedestrian Bridge to Open in
May

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Spring brings us green grass, green trees, and a green bridge. The new pedestrian bridge to be built on Okemos Road over the Red Cedar river just got its first part from New York.

There are four parts in total. Two of them are on the way while the fourth one is in waiting to be delivered.

All of them are expected to arrive by next week. After that, there will be some construction work before the bridge can be open to the public.

Raymond Severy, Meridian Township Director of Engineering, said "within the next couple of weeks, we hope to get the bridge here and assembled in place. then they still have to put concrete deck. they will put sidewalks to each end of it. so there would be another couple of weeks work at least."

Severy says the goal is to have construction complete before the end of May.
