East Lansing and Remains Undefeated

EAST LANSING - Haslett/Williamston/Bath gymnastics defeated East Lansing on Wednesday Feb. 4 132.4 to 124.25. The Vikings remain unbeaten on the season with ten wins to their name.

Cara Clarizo and Brooke Allen came up big for Haslett/Williamston/Bath. Clarizo placed first in beam, bars and all-around. Allen placed first in floor and finished second to Clarizo in all-around. The two also tied for first on beam.

Vikings coach Shera Emmons said she was proud to see her team improve their skills and take top honors on floor and beam.

"Today we got some tumbling back that we hadn't done in a couple of days so that was good, some nice tumbling on the floor," said Emmons. "We had some stick-its on beam, people who didn't fall off the beam, so that's always exciting."

Haslett/Williamston/Bath's winning streak could be in jeopardy in the near future. In their upcoming league meets, the Vikings will face against traditional CAAC powers Grand Ledge and Holt, who were picked to finish first and second in the conference, respectively, by the Lansing State Journal. The Vikings were predicted to finish third.

Emmons believes her team can remain at the top of the CAAC if they stay focused for the rest of the season.

"Gymnastics is a very mental sport and you have to be focused and you have to be a part right on," she said. "Otherwise little mistakes make a big difference."
