Lake Lansing Road Construction in
the Works

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Ingham County Road Department will be reconstructing Lake Lansing Road between East Saginaw Highway and Lac Du Mont Drive. Construction will begin spring of 2015.

The proposed plan is to add a center left turn lane from Saginaw Highway to Lac Du Mont Drive, as well as bike lane paved shoulders on each side of the road. The estimated cost is at about 1.4 million dollars.

Bill Conklin, Ingham County Road Department Managing Director said, “That will be funded partially by a crumb rubber asphalt grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality where in the road department is working with Michigan State University to field trial this experimental crumb rubber asphalt that we've been using on several roads around the township. So that will provide $300 thousand, and then the remainder is funded 80 percent by federal aid, and the remaining 20 percent by Ingham County.”

The road will be extended about 8 inches. Sidewalk ramps will also be upgraded to current American Disability Act standards. Construction is expected to last about 3 months, and the target completion date is Labor Day.
