MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township Manager, Frank Walsh, was recently appointed to the Michigan Local Government Management Association Summer Conference Planning Committee.

The Michigan Local Government Management Association is an association for government managers from different townships, cities, and counties throughout the State of Michigan.

Walsh will be working with six other appointed officials to plan an event for the summer venue, which will help to formulate the vision of the conference for the year 2014. The three-day conference will take place in Bay City during the month of July.

"We'll focus on leadership, we'll focus on regionalism and cooperation, those are the two main bullet points. We hope to bring everyone in from the state to help make this an educational venue," Walsh said.

Manager Frank Walsh has been active in the state association for the last 25 years. During his tenure as City Manager in St. Joseph in 2011, he was not only Chair, but hosted the conference which was held in St. Joseph.

"I'm glad to help out," he said. "It's important that all of us volunteer and help and make the organization as strong as we can."

Walsh said he plans to continue his involvement in this organization in many different ways. He is also involved in committees that are part of the Michigan Municipal League level as well.

"Whatever the organization needs, I'm there to help," Walsh said. "It just goes along with giving back to your profession. I'm really proud of what I do for a living, and I'm very happy to give back."
