Meridian Township Day Before Thanksgiving Farmers’
Market

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Farmers’ Market will be open the day before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“There should be more than 25 vendors attending the market where customers can pick up fresh Thanksgiving turkeys and all the fixin's to go with their Thanksgiving feast,” said Market Manager Christine Miller.

The vendors will be featuring locally and state grown products at the market. The following items will be available: squash, potatoes, onions, pickles, baked goods, pies, apples, cider, shrimp, beef, lamb, cheeses, seasonal arrangements, spinach, kale, collards, honey, eggs, jams, jellies, soap, kettle corn, bread, maple syrup, coffee, and turkey.

Vendors are still taking reservations for turkeys. Contact Country Products at (517) 543-2973 for Farmer Direct turkeys or Spartan Country Meats at (517) 375-6337 for homegrown turkeys.

The Meridian Township Farmers’ Market is located at 5151 Marsh Road at the Central Park Pavilion. For additional information, contact the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department at (517) 853-4600.

Make sure to follow these Thanksgiving Safety Tips from the National Fire Protection Association:
• Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on the food.
• Stay in the home when cooking your turkey and check on it frequently.
• Keep children away from the stove. The stove will be hot and kids should stay 3 feet away.
• Make sure kids stay away from hot food and liquids. The steam or splash from vegetables, gravy or coffee could cause serious burns.
• Keep the floor clear so you don’t trip over kids, toys, pocketbooks or bags.
• Keep knives out of the reach of children.
• Be sure electric cords from an electric knife, coffee maker, plate warmer or mixer are not dangling off the counter within easy reach of a child.
• Keep matches and utility lighters out of the reach of children — up high in a locked cabinet.
• Never leave children alone in room with a lit a candle.
• Make sure your smoke alarms are working. Test them by pushing the test button.
