Denial of Building Permit Appeal

Denial of Building Permit Appeal

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Zoning Board of Appeals met Wednesday to discuss the denial of a building permit. A building owned by a resident was damaged from a fire in February of 2012. They are not allowed to rebuild until they receive approval.

After weighing the evidence in the case, the board decided they needed more information and tabled the appeal. The market value of the house, percent of damages and the legal definition of "destroyed" and "uninhabitable" are all factors the board needs clarification on.

Zoning Board of Appeals Vice-Chair, Jim Hershiser was interviewed after the meeting to discuss the case.

"Then send our building inspector out there and determine if he thinks everything has been covered and what its gonna cost to repair the building to that detailed drawing that was submitted by the applicant," said Hershiser.

The board is hoping they can get all their questions answered before the next meeting on Wednesday, October 23rd.
