Elementary Building

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - There will now be new all stars at the old Wardcliff Elementary School.

"We have issued a building permit for them to get started on the remodeling. I don't know exactly how long it's going to take them or when its going to be open," explained Mark Kieselbach, Director of Community Planning and Development for Meridian Township.

After being closed almost three years, the building will now be home to a new autism center for children. Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties will take over 10,000 square feet of the 15,000 square feet building. The renovations will include rearranging space for learning areas and redoing the bathrooms.

"Members from the neighborhood knew this was happening and from the couple neighbors I have spoken with, they are happy the building is being reused," said Kieselbach.

This autism center will the first of its kind in the Township.
