UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Each year, the Environmental Commission receives nominations for the Environmental Stewardship Awards.

This year, the award went to four residents of Meridian Township. Tim Potter, manager of the MSU Bike Service Center, is recognized for his leadership in promoting bikes and other non-motorized transportation.

Nancy Krupriarz, former Planning Commissioner, is recognized for work as director of the Michigan Trails & Greenways Alliance, and participant of the Complete Streets Committee.

James Cody, recognized for being the founder and leader of the Northwind Community Gardens, which were filled to capacity in less than two years.

Anne Woiwode is the director of the Mackinac Chapter of the Sierra Club, a former Trustee and Planning Commissioner, and is devoted in her work to protect forests, addressing factory farms, and curbing urban sprawl.

All four recipients will be receiving their award at the next Environmental Commission meeting on April 18th.
