Championship Send-Off for Okemos Boys Soccer Team

OKEMOS - The Okemos varsity boys soccer team received a special community send-off as they went to the State Championship game in Novi on Saturday, November 6th.

The send-off was in front of Okemos High School at 9:15 am, where the community was cheering them on with signs and banners as the bus pulled into the parking lot. Meridian Township Police escorted their bus from the school, down Jolly Road and onto the highway on I-96.

Okemos defeated Northville at the semi-finals on Wednesday, November 3rd with a score of 1-0 to advance to the Division 1 State Championship game, making it the first time in 17 years where the Chiefs made it to the state title game. The Okemos varsity boys soccer team are nationally ranked at number 4 and took on New Baltimore Anchor Bay at noon at Novi High School for the state title.

Update: Okemos defeated New Baltimore Anchor Bay and won the state title.
