UPDATE: OKEMOS - Attendees at the fundraiser enjoyed a home-cooked spaghetti dinner, along with desserts and live music performed by different bands from around the Okemos Public School district.

The event was sponsored by the Okemos Music Patrons, with proceeds from the dinner going toward forward the Okemos Public Schools music program.

"All the arts and culture are so important to kids, and the more you can influence them at a younger age, they'll carry that through their life," said Nancy Moylan, a parent volunteer at the event.

"Kids that are involved in music are less apt to be involved in negative behaviors, and so we really want to support that."

The annual event raises around $20,000 each year to pay for new instruments, music and instrument repairs.
