Rain, Summer Breeze and Steve Spees at Meridian Township’s Farmers’ Market

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Are you running out of summer plans? Look no further! Meridian Township’s Farmers’ Market will be hosting concerts every Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Summer Concert Series kicked off this past Wednesday on July 7.

It might have rained, but it did not stop musician Steve Spees from opening the very first show of the season. Spees has been playing the saxophone for forty-six years and is currently in the middle of playing fifty-five shows in sixty-one days.

“I’ve always wanted to do more community type things. I’m from the area, so it was kind of good to play in my hometown. I decided that this was something that I wanted to do. I approached them, they got back with me and decided they’d open-up for me this year,” explained Spees. It was an amazing feeling for him to be playing for people that were a part of his hometown.

Residents from Meridian Township enjoyed listening to the variety of smooth jazz, blues, and country songs.

“I’m having a great time! The weather is a little bit funky, but it can’t stop us from having fun. We’re out here having a good time,” exclaimed Lauren Fletcher, an audience member.

Other upcoming performers for the concert series will include Joe Wright, Tommy Foster, Sea Cruisers and many more.

The Farmer’s Market Summer Concert series will continue until August 25.
