Representative Elissa Slotkin Launches a New Campaign For a New Era

LANSING, MI - On Friday July 10th, 8th District U.S. Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin kicked off her 2020 reelection campaign at UAW Hall Local 652 on 426 Clare Street, located in Lansing, MI.

The event went from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with small, in-person, socially-distanced audiences and to supporters who joined via a livestream, sharing her 2020 campaign priorities of affordable healthcare and prescription drugs, clean water, restoring American manufacturing and bringing civility and decency to Washington while maintaining smart public health and safety practices.

More than 600 supporters tuned into Representative Elissa Slotkin’s re-election campaign launch, marking the third anniversary of the Congresswoman’s first run for office and the start of a new way to connect with voters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several local leaders were also present at Rep. Slotkin’s campaign reelection, including the president of UAW Local 652 Ben Frantz, Viviana Alamillo a Campaign Organizer for Congresswoman Slotkin, and State Representative Sarah Anthony.

“As we relaunch the campaign, I thought it was important to speak directly to people in the district and talk about why I hope to earn your vote either for a second time or for a first time,” Slotkin said. “It is my obligation to come back to you all and explain the value proposition for the constituents and the residents in this district and why I hope to earn your vote.”

Rep. Slotkin added, “Going forward my hope and my proposition is that I will continue to take that mission focus into my next term in congress. My responsibility is to be available to you and to take that fight on the things you care about, whether its mental health, alzheimer’s, issues around autism and addiction, issues around our economy and what’s going to happen as we deal with the response and fall out from COVID-19. It is my job to listen and do something about it. Let me continue that fight and be a part of a new generation of elected leaders who think differently, work harder, and never forget who they are fighting for.”
