What You Need To Know About Severe Winter Weather

LANSING - As winter weather progresses, residents can expect severe winds along with heavy snow, sleet and ice.

Public utility companies like the Lansing Board of Water and Light (LBW&L) and Consumers Energy has informed the public about a severe winter storm starting from Friday evening and progressing untill Sunday morning.

Downed power wires and downed power lines are likely to result from this winter storm. It's important that you should not touch or drive over a downed power line.

LBW&L stated they have prepared for any cases involving power outages and storm preparedness calls and will be providing information about this weekend's weather as necessary.

Residents who have any questions or concerns regarding this weekend's weather, can contact Breina Pugh, Community Relations Manager for BWL, at (989) 948-1164 or Calvin Jones at (517) 388-6377.

Consumers Energy reports that this storm will likely lead to downed wires and power outages over the course of several days, and has advised the public to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed wires. Residents can report a downed wire by calling 9-1-1 and Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050.

Information about outage centers is also on both utility companies' websites at lbwl.com/outage-center and ConsumersEnergy.com/OutageCenter.
