Local Artists Create and Display Holiday Art to Reflect Cultural Heritage

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th, the Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center, located in Okemos, MI, held their 27th Annual Holiday Art Sale, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Many artists from the Greater Lansing area were present and displayed beautiful artwork like Native American themed jewelry, Christmas ornaments, blankets, magnets and dream catchers.

Jenny Rentfrow, Board Secretary of the Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center, shared what this event meant to her and the community.

"This is a time for us to celebrate our heritage, number 1, our Native American heritage, to bring people here and so many people come here for the sale and they go, oh boy we have never been in here before, to our museum cause we are here all year round with things to look at. "

"I love to decorate and make our gift shop look special and I enjoy seeing our artist friends that come every year."

She also added that the event has attracted hundreds of people and a large Native American community.
