Meridian Township Corridor Projects Moving Forward

Meridian Township Corridor Projects Moving Forward

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Corridor Improvement Authority met on February 27 at 6 pm in the Central Fire Station to discuss updates of many development projects along Grand River Avenue.

Meridian Township Economic Development Director Chris Buck discussed the progress of development projects such as: The Red Cedar Manor, the Leo's Lodge building on the corner of Grand River Avenue and Okemos Road and JDubbs Signature Subs, a new sandwhich shop to replace the vacant Subway on the West side of Okemos Road and on the North side of Grand River Avenue.

Director Buck also expressed some concerns for the Red Cedar Manor project and looks forward to the addition of JDubbs Signature Subs to Meridian Township:

"The Red Cedar Manor is right along the river's edge and the parking lot they are proposing to use for this is going to be along the floodway; so as the river rises which it does here in Okemos and Meridian Township those cars will go underwater."

"JDubbs Signature Subs has got a couple of locations in mid-Michigan, but I am really looking forward to getting them in the Township, that's a use by right so there is no approval processes needed they just have to adhere to the building codes and pass inspections and should be open for business sooner than later."

The Meridian Township Corridor Improvement Authority will hold their next meeting on March 27 at 6 pm in the Central Fire Station.
